ANNUAL REPORT FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-2021

The Indian Academy continues to strive and work with the students under its charge. Pandemic or No Pandemic, the school kept up its excellent efforts in the direction of the curricular and co-curricular activities, keeping in mind its motto – LEARNING BY DOING. After its inception in 2009 and strength of 150 plus students; the school has grown from strength to strength and is carrying forward the good work with 1645 students today.

Like all the previous academic years, this year too, the school continued to innovate, improvise, invent and create modern techniques of teaching to facilitate comprehensive learning among its students. The COVID-19 pandemic required the teachers to transform their teaching methods completely. And be it the Junior school (The Butterfly Wing) or the Senior school – All the teachers took up the new challenge with a very positive attitude and an open mind set. All the teachers rose up to the occasion and brought about a lot of innovativeness and freshness to their teaching methodology. They made sure that the pandemic would not affect the students’ learning adversely.

The year had three months of the pre-pandemic period and nine months of the pandemic period.

In January 2020, the Butterfly wing celebrated the Republic Day with a vibrant cultural programme and a unique competition – a Declamation Competition in which the little learners presented speeches of some great Indian leaders with perfect panache.  The Senior school also had a colorful culture programme followed by a Thought Writing Competition. The school also organized a capacity building workshop for enhancing the knowledge and skills of its teachers.

In February 2020, the school celebrated Vasant Panchami. The Junior school had organized a Hindi Quiz, the middle school had the Spell Bee Quiz and the Senior school had an interesting G.K. Quiz in the same month. Also, a Hawan was organized for the board classes to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.

In March 2020, the Junior school enjoyed the Flower Day to hail the season of Spring. Thereafter, the school got ready for the Annual Examination, however, just as the exams were about to finish, COVID-19 struck the World. And the school had to close as per the LOCKDOWN orders.

But without wasting any time, the school prepared the results and after the promotions of the students, promptly got ready for the online teaching. The school had commenced with the online classes in April 2020, itself. After a few teething problems – the session went underway very smoothly and in an organized manner. The parents’ support in this regard has been commendable till date. The school organized an online Poster Making competition on the Earth Day in April 2020. Also, the students sent their videos with speeches and self composed poems on this occasion. The PANDEMIC did not dampen our spirits.

In May 2020, the online classes continued.  Mother’s Day was celebrated by the students by preparing some lovely cards for their mothers. June 2020 was the vacation month. However, this was also the month for the school to celebrate its excellent Board results. For the academic year 2019-20, we had a class X Topper – Abhipsa Malguri with 98.6%. In class XII Science – Aashna Gusain  topped with 97.2% and in class XII Commerce Swati Lohani topped with 94%.

In July 2020, the online classes resumed with the  same enthusiasm as before. The tech savvy students started sending their videos while performing Science experiments at home. Several students have been sending their Power Point presentations in various subjects and several creative videos from time to time. The school organized a wonderful online Monsoon Activity in the form of Painting and Craft work in the same month.

In August 2020, the students of the Indian Academy  participated in an Art Competition organized by the CBSE, which was “Gandagi Mukt Bharat” – Akshita Bahuguna of class VII won a prize in the same. Some students had participated in the Essay Writing Competition also titled “Gandagi Mukt Bharat” – Anushka Kandari of class IX won a prize in the same. In the same month, keeping alive our patriotic fervour the school organized an online Independence Day celebration. The students had sent their videos of dances and speeches on the occasion.

In September 2020, the school took part in an Inter- School Heritage Quiz. In fact, the Indian Academy hosted this Quiz with aplomb. In the same month, the Ozone Day and & World Alzheimer’s Day were observed in the form of speeches by our students. Teachers’ Day was celebrated with some wonderful online-cards that were created by the students for the teachers.

In October 2020, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with the Mahatma’s song – Vaishnav Jan te — and a remarkable speech on the father of the nation. In the same month, on the occasion of Navaratri, the students shared Shloka Recitation audios and speeches based on the 9 forms of Goddess Durga. Our students participated in two online Inter school Debate Competitions – Hindi and English and bagged the First and Second positions.  The National Unity Day was celebrated with and Essay Writing Competition with the theme – “Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel – The Iron Man of  India”.

In November 2020,  The Uttarakhand Foundation Day was celebrated. On the occasion of Diwali, the students shared pictures of some amazing craft work that they had created. The teachers conveyed their warm wishes to the students with cards and songs on Children’s Day.

The COVID-19 Pandemic could not dissuade the school from organizing a Virtual  Annual Function in December 2020. The function was organized very successfully and was appreciated by all the parents and students. It was dedicated to Shri Atal Bihari Bajpai Ji & Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. The staff and the students lived up to the occasion with their presentations in the  form of Dances, Poem Recitations, Yoga Display and Skits etc.

We hope to continue with our sincere efforts in the field of education and carry out the all round development of the students under our wings.
