The Indian Academy, Dehradun, recently organized a powerful awareness workshop on Drug and Substance Abuse for students of Classes 10 and 11. The session was led by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Assistant Director, State Mental Health Authority, Govt. of Uttarakhand.

The Indian Academy School Marks International Yoga Day with Active Participation 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️
Students and teachers of The Indian Academy School enthusiastically took part in the International Yoga Day celebration held at Laxman Vidyalaya, organized by NCC Unit 29 UK Bn, Dehradun. The event witnessed participation from 15 esteemed institutions and was graced by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, former Minister of Education, Government of India, who inaugurated the program.
Guided by trained instructors, cadets from The Indian Academy performed a series of yoga asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana I, Adho Mukha Svanasana, and Savasana, promoting the message of wellness, discipline, and unity.

God Could Not Be Everywhere, So He Created Mothers
Students from classes PG to IV celebrated Mother’s Day with heartfelt enthusiasm and innocence. The young learners expressed their deep love and gratitude through soulful recitations, eloquent speeches, an emotional skit, and lively dance performances. As part of the celebration, the little ones also enjoyed creative activities like bindi pasting and flower pasting, adding a personal touch to the occasion. The event served as a beautiful reminder of a mother’s irreplaceable role and the importance of honoring her every day.

On Friday, 9th May 2025, The Indian Academy successfully hosted an engaging and thought-provoking Inter-School Documentary and Hindi Enactment Presentations event. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from eleven reputed schools, each contributing to a meaningful exchange of ideas centered on pressing social, political, and environmental issues.

The event commenced with motivational words from the Vice Principal, Ms. Shuchi Mamgain, who spoke about the technical aspects of documentary-making and encouraged students to showcase their creativity and innovation through their presentations.

Each school brought a unique perspective to the stage, addressing topics such as Waste Management, Geopolitical Conflicts Over Natural Resources, The Cyclic Nature of Time, India—The Land of Cultural Diversity, among others. The participants were lauded for their confident and research-based presentations.

In her address, the Principal, Ms. Neelam Sharma, urged students to choose a topic of personal interest and conduct independent research on it, emphasizing the long-term benefits of such an endeavor for their personal growth.

All participants were honoured with certificates and prizes by the esteemed Director, Ms. Deepa Khanduri.

The programme concluded on a high note, having left both the audience and participants inspired, informed, and motivated to contribute towards a more conscious and responsible society.

Next Level Boyhood – Rooted in Yesterday, Rising in Today!
On Friday, 25th April 2025, the school organized Next Level Boyhood, a special workshop for boys of Grades 6 to 8, focusing on adolescence and social-emotional learning through engaging, play-based activities.
The workshop encouraged boys to embrace emotional expression, build self-awareness, ensure mental and physical safety, and form positive relationships with parents, peers, and adults.
Students actively participated in activities and concluded with a pledge to carry these values forward.
The Principal, Ms. Neelam Sharma, inspired the boys with her words on the importance of self-awareness, self-management, and making the best use of time for a bright future!

The Indian Academy celebrated World Earth Day on Monday, 22nd April 2025, with a special assembly dedicated to environmental awareness and sustainability. The event began with a symbolic tree plantation and a pledge to protect the planet.

The celebration featured inspiring speeches, poems, songs, shloka chanting, and a lively dance performance, all promoting conservation. A poster-making competition on the themes “The Role of Youth in Preserving Our Planet” and “Future of Health” showcased students’ visionary ideas.

Classes I to IV also took part with great enthusiasm, beginning with a plantation activity. Students delivered speeches, recited poems, performed dances, and staged a skit emphasizing pollution control and resource conservation.

Workshop: Mission Udaan – “Fly High, Fly Safe”

A workshop titled Mission Udaan was conducted on Saturday, 19 April 2025, for girls of Classes 6 to 8. Organized by the science teachers, the session focused on adolescence and aimed to create awareness about the physical, emotional, and psychological changes during this transitional age.

The workshop featured interactive activities addressing issues like mood swings, aggression, hormonal changes, and peer pressure. Emphasis was placed on both emotional and physical safety. The session concluded with an oath by the students, followed by an insightful address by Principal Ms. Neelam Sharma, who shared her valuable experiences. Finally, the Honourable Director Ma’am appreciated and motivated the students and team for their efforts in making the workshop a success.

On the occasion of World Health Day, our school celebrated with great enthusiasm, spreading awareness about the importance of good health. The program, beautifully presented by Class 12A, featured an impactful skit on the Five Pillars of Health, emphasizing daily habits for a healthy lifestyle. A heartwarming poem on retaining good health and inspiring speeches encouraged all to choose wellness. The message was clear: Let the protagonist, not the antagonist, guide your health. Choose right, be bright!

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.
On Teachers’ Day, students of The Indian Academy, Dehradun, organized a captivating program to express their gratitude toward their teachers. The skit titled “Human Teacher vs. Humanoid Teacher” vividly illustrated that nothing can replace the presence of a human teacher.
The event also included the recognition of quiz winners and the Best Student Teachers of the day. The program featured a diverse range of activities, including poetry, speeches, songs, a skit, dances, and a felicitation ceremony, all celebrating the invaluable contributions of educators.

The Indian Academy Dehradun organised an awareness workshop on ‘Cyber Crime’ on Saturday, 31st Aug,2024. The resource person for the workshop was Additional Sub Inspector Manoj Beniwal from Cyber Crime Police Station, Uttarakhand Special Task Force. The session aimed to educate the staff and the students on various types of cyber crimes including online cyber frauds, cyber bullying, hacking, digital arrest and many more.
Mr.Beniwal provided useful practical tips and guidelines to ensure online safety which included strong passwords, avoid responding to fake links, fake apps etc.The audience was encouraged to use the helpline no.1930 and email- cybercrime.gov.in to lodge complaints related to cyber crimes. The students were advised not to viral memes of teachers, students and school which may come under cyber crime.
The session was indeed enlightening and eye opening as it empowered the students and staff with the knowledge needed to protect themselves from the growing threats of digital world.

Team Tilu Roteli including the team members Saksham Rana (VII A), Akansha Rawat (VIII A), Zikra Akhtar (VII B) bagged the second position.

The school organised the science quiz for the students of classes XI and XII Science students on 30 th of August 2024 to create a keen interest in science through some interesting ways including different rounds. There were four teams named as team Bhardwaj, team Patanjali, team Nagarjuna and team Shalihotra. Each team comprised of three members.
The quiz was conducted in four rounds.
Team Shailihotra secured the first position with participants Jiya Negi (XI A), Pranjal (XI A), Pragya Rana(XI A) . The runner up team was team Bhardwaj with participants Vaibhavi Baluni( XI A ), Prashant Kukreti (XI A) and Tanupriya (XI A).
The lampara science quiz 2024 motivated students towards developing scientific aptitude and logical reasoning.

The quiz comprised 4 teams namely – (theta, phi, pi and sigma ), each team consisted of 3 members. The quiz was conducted in 4 rounds – Warm up with mental math, Visual round, Watch out! and Ripples with rapid. All the participants exhibited tremendous potential as they keenly listened to the questions and answered logically.
After the thrilling and high tempo competition the Principal,Ms.Neelam Sharma announced the result- Team (phi) secured the first position including – Aditya Rawat (IX -D), Sarthak Bisht (X-A) and Kavya Jaggi (X-C) , a tough competition was given to them by the team (theta)including Baishnavi Semwal(IX B), Shlok Thapliyal(X A), Utkarsh Chauhan(X B) that bagged the second position.

The school organised the science quiz for the students of classes 5 and 6 on 29th August 2024 to create a keen interest in science through some interesting ways including different rounds. There were four teams named team Bhardwaj, team Patanjali, team Nagarjuna and team Shalihotra. Each team comprised of three members.
The quiz was conducted in four rounds.All the participants keenly attempted the rounds by being alert and active.
At the end the Principal,Ms.Neelam Sharma announced the result . The team Patanjali secured the first position with participants Sanidhya Negi (6 B), Aaditri Rawat (5B), Shanaya (5B) . The runner up team was team Nagarjuna with participants Divyanshi Bisht( 6C ), Tejasvi Rana (5C) and Saksham Thapliyal (6B).

दि इंडियन एकेडमी में 24 अगस्त को हिंदी वाद विवाद प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया, जिसका विषय था ‘ तकनीकी बच्चों की क्रियात्मकता को नकारात्मक रूप से प्रभावित कर रही है |’ वाद विवाद के विषयानुसार कक्षा 6से 8वीं के विद्यार्थियों ने वाद विवाद में प्रतिभाग किया | विद्यार्थियों ने पक्ष व विपक्ष में अपने मत को सशक्त ढंग से व्यक्त किया ,
जिसमें प्रथम स्थान पर रहीं कक्षा आठवीं की छात्रा लविशा रावत , द्वितीय स्थान पर कक्षा सातवी की छात्रा समृद्धि जुयाल और कृतिका नेगी, तृतीय स्थान पर कक्षा आठवीं की छात्रा मिस्टी काशीवाल ।

The school organised a ‘Career Counselling Workshop’ for the students of Classes X, XI & XII on April 27. The session aimed to guide students about various career prospects in the Indian Defence services. The resource person Col.Ajay Verma(Retd.) apprised the students of all the streams (Science, Commerce, Arts) in detail about the Indian Military, offered strategies to get into the Indian Defence Forces and serve the nation.

It was an interactive session where Col. Ajay also addressed the queries by the students and provided effective solutions which made the students happy and enthusiastic about the Defence services.
The event concluded with a motivational speech by the Principal, TIA Dehradun.

Declamation Competition for the students of classes I to IV on Tuesday, 30th January, 2024 held at the school premises.
The objective of the programme was to give a platform to the students where they could show their talent in the oratory skill.

The students from classes Playgroup to XII participated in different activities on the occasion.
The toddlers of TIA enjoyed the Tricolour Sandwich Making Activity,Flag Making Activity using clay and had shown their creativity in the colouring competition depicting India’s national symbols. Students presented a vibrant cultural programme which consisted of patriotic speeches, poems and dances.

The school organised an insightful event for the students of Classes X to XII on Friday, 22nd December 2023.
The notable speaker Mr.Amit Mohan Kathpalia, a Chartered Accountant , shared his expertise and knowledge by guiding the students on the core concepts of Commerce. He also apprised them about a plethora of career options available in the field of Commerce.
The Principal, Ms.Neelam Sharma summed up the session by citing various practical situations.
In a nutshell, the session was quite enriching and informative.
